Ron, did you go to the Grammar School?

I started WGS in 1942 and the first day of school Ken Carrington was called out of the assembly by Bill Taylor, the headmaster to receive a badge similar to this one.

Hi John, No, I went to the Thomas Linacre, along with my cousin, Tony Bennett, who got this when the two schools merged.

Ken is still alive and well, keeping us all entertained at Wigan Subscription Club

I played rugby at WGS and never got a badge like that one.

What does the RFC stand for .. ?

I remember Tony Bennet who went to St Georges primary school and then to the Linacre.

I left when I was 16. Had well enough of it.

Tony wasn't at WGS at that time.

Freddy Laithwaite also went from St Georges to the Linacre as well as John Ashcroft.

The rest of us went to WGS.
