Would this be in the 1930s? The panel above the scalloped edging looks art-deco.
Irene, I can see what you mean about the Art Deco permit , I'm afraid I don't know the date of the picture ,but your suggestion can't be far off. This was before the adjoining White Bear and later The White Lion was incorporated into the store. it was from one of these hostelries ,that we acquired inherited the ghost ! .
Thankyou, Tom. As you know, the ghost story fascinates me, and I have no doubt that it is true. I wonder if the people in the building still experience anything? I know of a haunted house in Swinley Lane where the ghost appeared less and less as the years passed by.
Where abouts exactly was Lowes, and where can I read more about the ghost? Stories like this fascinate me!
Maxine, Lowe's was where Barclay's Bank is now, at the top of Market St. Go on "Album", then "Places", then scroll down to "Market Place" and click on. There are a few pages of pics.
