The tower on the left still exists, anyone know what is or was used for?
Comment by: Loz on 5th November 2012 at 23:39
It was a water tower.

The tower could have been a fan hole to collect dust fibres from the machine shop/s; by the design of the roofs, it was probably weaving or knitting

Is this engine a Stanier or Fairburn?

The mill has a typical north-light roof construction which suggests this is a weaving mill. The water tower would have supplied the sprinkler system and hose reels.

I'll plump for a Stanier 4MT Garry.
