A dump for as long as I can remember
Shame to call this fine old house a dump, with a bit of sympathetic restoration it would look great.
Does anyone know the history of this house. i.e when was it built for whom etc.
I rekon it would have once been a grand house in the middle of nowere.
I dont think the current occupants would take kindly to your comments Wayne, and seeing as this building dates from the late 1600's it had stood the test of time quite well.
I seem to remember a previous occupant of Kirkless Hall was accused of murdering his wife.
see it is currently on the market for 500k cant be that much of a dump as previously stated.
most of you are jealous because my brother owns this listed historic building
My great great Grandfather lived there at the time of the 1851 and 1861 census along with his wife and five children including my great grandfather and 2 servants. He was the Managing farmer on the estate and originally came from Lincolnshire
I think this is a wonderful building and a very understated bit of Wigan history! Anyone taking on a listed building (or any old building for that matter) has their work cut out for them, for what its worth when I first saw this building I was very impressed! Also for such a hidden gem to have survived until now, in the harsh climate of an industrial landscape, is a testament to any owner.
Jayne, I think you've summed up my feelings about this fine edifice exactly. Well said.
