Hi alan,my family moved into the house after jamesons left i spent many a good few yrs there, the family that lived next door to us was brogans and on the other end was hursts, that would be in early 80s mrs brogan and mrs hurst still live there to my knowledge.
Hi Dave, Betty Brogan still lives there,I know her well, but I don't know Mrs Hurst.
Hi Freda,if it's Marjorie,as I new her,she is my cousin but I've never seen much of her because she left the district when I was a young boy, so I only saw her when she came to see her mum, my aunty Mollie, and then she went to America. I've just read an article from her in the Park Lane Chapel newsletter about her time living at 57, Bryn Road, the house I lived in until I was 17. It brings back memories.
Hi Alan,
We are slightly related via the SHAW family. According to Ancestry you are my 3rd cousin 1x removed.
I know the house where your family lived very well, in fact I walked past it this morning.
I'm into family history in a big way and am willing to exchange information.
Regards.
Eric
Hi Eric,I think my grandmother, the old lady in the picture, was Mary Elizabeth Shaw. I've got a handwritten family tree dating back to 1756 starting with John Adamson and Ursular Anyon but I havn't studied it yet
I have relatives in the Downall Green area, cousins Jack, William (Billy), and Leonard Lowe. I believe that Billy died last year, I think my uncle was Jim and my aunt Anne Lowe (nee Roocroft ).
I am sure Mary Shaw is in my family tree but I will have to make sure. My ancestors are Adamson and my grandad Robert(Bob) lived in Rectory Rd.
Alan did you and your dad work at Naylor Bros, your dad and mine were good friends Funny how when you see some of these photo,s how it jogs your memory
Hi Brian, I did work at Naylors and my dad and brother Jack did as well. I do remember my dad having a friend named Ashcroft.
I remember you from Naylors ,but you were older than me ,i seved my time with Vinny Rose.
Hello Alan,
My ancestors also go back to Usula Anyon And John Adamson. My maternal grandmother was Jane Ellen Lowe (daughter of Elizabeth Lowe) both were pit brow girls. I'd love to know the names of the people in your photo and see your tree. I have been spending time in Ashton in Makerfield and was at Holy Trinity church just this week. I had many family members that lived on Rectory Road and Downall Green
