This is the photo taken when they played Bryn in the 1st Round Medal Competition. They beat Bryn 5-0. The photo was given to me at a Grammar School re-union in 2009 by Jack Winstanley (second from left front row)- he had confused me with Len Unsworth (goalkeeper in the photo). Len and me, we were both goalkeepers at the same period and both lived in Chestnut Road.
The names are; back row - Don Jackson(his father was a dentist in Whelley) Gordon Magleave,Roger Smith, Len Unsworth,Don Fullelove, Colin Derbyshire,Norman Ward(Trainer)
front row; Brian Fairhurst,Jack Winstanley,Norman Fulton(capt),Billy Leigh,Stanley Mason.
Thanks Jack for handing this treasure to me and for detailing the names!.

A thought occurred to me after posting this picture! The photo must have been taken before the match - look how well polished all their boots are!!

Jack Winstanley is my uncle and he always maintained that he didn't like soccer. He never cracked on that he played for St Stephens. Those boots he is wearing were handed down to me when I was at St Stephens school. They were so worn that that the many nails that held the studs on poked through and pricked your feet.
My dad Don Jackson also played for Heinz 57club later.
