Certainly looks spick and span.Very clean and smart.
Nice pic, I don't remember Oliver Somers Cycles being here.
Wallgate.. lovely memories of the place I grew up in.
It looked much better then. It looks awful now.
Going back many many years 1966 to 1970 I remember the shop now occupied by Oliver Somers used to be a newspaper sorting office. The papers came in by train were brought across the road to these premises sorted into bundles and then driven to local shops in the firms many vans
Where is the traffic? Photoshop or less busy times?
Is my memory acting up or does anyone else remember Edmunds Walker (motor component specialists) being along this stretch of Wallgate in the late 50s/early 60s before they moved to Pottery Rd?
Upstairs Downstairs furniture had the shop where Oliver Somers is on the photo till the early 90s.
Stuart, this photo was taken on a Sunday morning and the shops were closed , hence the lack of traffic.
Yea it must have been on a sunday, because it was the only time there was never any traffic on the roads. It was lovely to drive through wigan then you could window shop from the car.
