Can any verify - in this photo, at bottom right corner, is that the row of shops that displayed the large graffiti "APOCALYPSE NOW"? It would have been visible to anyone entering Worsley Mesnes from Warrington Road along Tyrer Avenue. It was there for years - maybe a bit of a landmark!
From what I recall, I think that grafiti was there and was a landmark along with the "Killer clowns from outer space" grafiti by the playing field near Goose Green Labour Club. Or was it killer tomatoes?
Apocalypse Now... I remember it well, massive writing across the wall, that`s when i learned what the word meant.
I love this photo. Im sat just to the left of the three trees in the centre of the picture, as i type this in my conservatory!
Notice this pic is 1987,,ther is also another pic exact same shot from 1982,, the far left maisonette block still there,, in the 1982 pic tho there is another block just facing on the empty grass verge,,, does anyone know why that was demolished so early ?
Just wondering if anyone knows or remembers a john Berkeley or Christopher john who lived in one of the high rise flats in the 80s?
