This brings back so many childhood memories
Wow its been nearly 40 years since ive seen the red pond i used to go fishing there in 1980 were have all the years gone i loved living in worsley mesnes it was like an adventure playground at the time i loved there all the cotton mills were deralict they were amazing to explore kids of today have no idea just looking at all these photos i can just imagine being 10 11 12 again my nan and grandad dad were all still alive then i can remember as a young lad wailking past the shops with mum and dad i only wish they were still around

Ted Walls was the caretaker in the late sixties. He once showed me his army service book where he landed in Normandy on 4th June 1944, two days before D Day! Ted Turton was the caretaker of Thackeray House where I lived for a spell
