Wigan Lane

I do remember these houses, strange how you forget how places used to be, to the left of those houses behind the stone wall there was a very old enormous tree that came down in a storm around about 1979, it actually blocked the main A49 road as Wigan Lane was then; for quite a few hours.
I remember these two houses very well as I walked passed them hundreds of times. I also remember the large tree - which could have been an Elm - which Cyril mentioned. The tree was on the right as you went through the first gateway (closest to the two houses) and was very close to the front wall.
The father who lived in the house with the black front door had a large removal van, which was often parked behind the house.
The building in the background is Mab's Cross Primary School. These houses were between the school (pictured) and St. Mary's Church.
I don't know why these houses were demolished, because they were nice houses and I don't recall any structural problems.
