Was sammy's dad Tommy and his grandad Aaron Southern ? if so, we are related, use to live in Aspull. If I am right Aaron and my dad Ted Southern were brothers. David's great grandad would be Lambert and greatgran Alice Southern from New Springs.

Didn't know Sammy Southern was your cousin,

Hi Margaret, no sammy isn't my cousin, his dad was, we are still related though, cousins once removed I think is the terminology.

Tommy Southern was the father of David and Ian (my cousins) and their mother Edna was my blood aunt. They did live in Aspull for many years and Tommy's relation in New Springs. Tommy has been dead for quite some time and Aunt Edna died about 11 years ago.

Yes, then Sammy and me are related, Lambert was Sammy's great grandad, he had 4 children, Elizabeth (named after his mother), Aaron Sammy's grandad, John, (who sadly drowned in a fishing accident about 1952) and my dad Edwin the youngest. Lambert died in 1949 and is buried in Haigh Church yard, Aaron died in 1948 I think. My line of the family moved over to Yorkshire in 1983. Thanks for the info.

I can't remeber but will ask Aunty Olive to see if she can remeber. Granddad died in 1964 aged 59 and Granma in 1985. There is only Aunty Olive and Aunty Lillian left alive now. My dad, Alan, Aunty Edna, Uncle Ernie and Uncle Billy have all passed away. Compulsary purchse drove the family out in the early 60s and Granddad never got over it.
