You wouldn't have thought Wigan had just beaten Barrow 10-0 to win the Rugby league Challenge Cup by the look on that lads face.

I think this was the year a coach, bound for Wembley , crashed at Scholes crossing.A lady from Bottling Wood was killed.

Was that the one that crashed into a newspaper shop?

Comment by: Tom Walsh on 20th February 2012 at 19:07

Ron, perhaps the lad was a Barrow supporter they'd taken hostage!

As my dad used to say to me "What's wrong with your face? you look like you've lost a £ and found a tanner"

Remember going with my Dad on a coach trip to see that match.
We went to see the Dome of Discovery and the Skylon.
Imagine the problems we had with a name like ours at that match.
We won and lost!!!!

Looks like they're singing?

Tommy Walsh's comments are right I think. I lived in Chestnut Road at he time and remember how the neighbours were affected by the tragedy. If my pal Ken had seen this photo he would have verified the year as he was a passenger on that coach!
