These Arkwright children are really bonny aren't they.
It's not fair, I want a ball too !!!
I recognized the lighting, backdrop and signature on this portrait, it's the work of Arthur Ashurst on Spring Bank, now that is strange since I don't recognize this family of Arkwrights and my maternal granfather's name was Sam Arkwright, he lived at 156 Ormskirk Road, Newtown, just a few blocks away from Ashurst's studio.
In what year did your Sam Arkwright live at 156, Ormskirk Road? Keith and Jack's great grandfather was a Sam Arkwright and he lived at 6, Sidney Street in 1881 (he died in 1883)
David Simm you are indirectly related to them. In 1960 you did a demonstration wedding album for my cousin Pat Arkwright. Her father was Joe Arkwright. One of the original Arkwright family. Her mum Belle was a daughter of John Bradley and Isabella Simm, who was a a member of your family. Sister of Belle was Marian Smith, married to Gerry Smith who lived in Ormskirk Road Newtown. They had a son Jeffrey and daughter Brenda. I think you will remember them!
This is for David Savage if he still looks on this site. Agnes Winstanley, my mother in law,(nee Arkwright)was Joseph Arkwright's sister. Joe married Isabella Bradley in 1929 and had two daughters. Joan was born in 1929 and Pat in 1941. Pat married Derek Green in 1961.
