Jerningham Class 1970 - 73
Jerningham [green] was a house not a class. The classes were Upper,Parallel and Lower and Alternative when I attended Notre Dame.Stafford house was red, Townely was yellow and Tichborne was blue.
I meant to say Jerningham House, Class 1970 - 73. We left in 73 and most of us went to Thomas More 73 - 75, then elsewhere for 6 form, hence I could not use the usual 'class of xx' description
Near table - Julia, Elizabeth, Sheila & Christine. Far table Judith & Julie (faces you can see)
When I was at the convent 1968-73 Tichbourne, Stafford, Townley and Jerningham were classes not houses. Not sure when this changed. Anybody?
It's always been houses. When we left in 73 (to go to Tommy More) we had been 'class 3 J' - which was Jerningham house. I liked the way they mixed the academic content of each house with each intake although it was mainly obvious with which languages you took. We did French, Stafford did French, Tichbourne did German and Townley did Russian (can't remember if T & T also did french). Then in the 2nd year we also had Spanish. Tichbourne added Latin (not sure if Townley had Spanish added too). I was rubbish at languages! I have a degree in Biochemistry.
