Any one know the name of the Dawbers that had this grocers shop that can be seen in the background?
I remember Mellings shoe-shop. I actually had clogs from there as a very small child, and little patent ankle-strap shoes for walking day. I remember plastic sandals becoming fashionable for playing out in around 1960, and all us girls clamouring for some.
i remember having those plastic sandals for walking day once irene they were called jen shoes .
This looks like a Belle Green Mission banner, I am sure that the second boy from the left is Gilbert Cunliffe and the third boy is George Cunliffe who lived in Chatham Street anyone know anybody else or correct me if I am wrong.

Hello Stuart P who asked and anyone else interested, that shop is my great grandfather's shop Mr Nathan Dawber.
His grandaughter (my mother) named me after my two grandfathers.
Jon and Nathan. Nathan's daughter Jean who was my beloved and much missed grandmother would tell me tale after tale about the shop, so it is wonderful to see it for myself. I wish that i could hear her tell me just one more.
