Tough prop who always played to the crowd and made New Years day derbys against Wigan a bit 'fiesty'
Looks like he's just about to elbow Mr Sorenson
thats aint Sorenson - its Dave Watkinson
my grandad was a rugby player in 1920 for wigan syd boyd
I remember Les Boyd playing for New South Wales in the State of Origin series and shattering Queenslands Darryl Brohmans jaw with his elbow, you could hear it crack. They had a big set to on the radio in Sydney not so long ago, Brohman called Boyd a coward and asked if his family where proud of him. Over 20 years on and the ill feeling still runs deep.
hope you are ok julie
keep going Pat
Who,s David Watkinson?
is it julie who once went in the Briam Boru
David Watkinson played for Hull KR. The photo is Warrington v Hull KR if I'm not mistaken.
Small wonder the use of the forearm as a weapon (of defence) was banned - players who used it in this way were offering very little to the game apart from naked violence.
spoke to Les Boyd a few times in Manchester ,like all Rugby League players what happend on pitch stayed on pitch.very nice bloke to talk to ,also great player.
An out and out thug, a dirty b-----d nothing more, nothing less.
