Wonderful pic, even though a little blurred. Very atmospheric.
John - last house was the Winrows who had a couple of massive alsations in his pen - never went in there when the ball went over - his son Kent has the Crown at New Springs
A thing that strikes me about this type of photo is that there isn't a scrap of litter anywhere.
great photo, would love to see one looking in the other direction as well
re litter - apart frm folks' pride in their communities and for what little they had back then - it was an era of less consumable goods less and disposable income (as well as disposable crappy products) in those days - one of the negative side-effects of "progress" I suppose.
Helen..people had more pride then.
Notice if front of every house ,the flag stones have been moped, they used to mop an oblong in front of there own step, also they would polish a square on each of the window making the bricks shine. My Auntie and Uncle lived at number 7 ,John and Kitty Power they ran the local bookmakers , illegal in those days before betting shops, just a harmless pastime
I lived at no 3 and I used to work with Angela John and Kitty ,s grand daughter
