The gypsy site not yet built and the whelley line still in use, what year would this be?
Is that the layout for West and Chattam Street
The council estate (Falkirk Drive etc) was finished about 1977/78 if I recall.
Stephen, West Street and Chatham Street are just out of shot to the left. The photograph is of the newer estate on Falkirk Drive.
The shorter street with houses already built is Edinburgh Close... then unbuilt, going up, you have Elgin Close, Turiff Grove and Rawthen Avenue.
My late Mum and Dad were moved from Belle Green Lane where their house was being knocked down into Elgin Close, their house was on the first empty lane at the back ofthe new houses, they were right at the very end of the cul de sac
Dennis West Street and Chatham Street are to the right of this photograph.
Dave, you are absolutely right! I had an attack of cranial flatulence there!
I just compared this with google maps (satellite). A before and after shot!
is it me or is there a corner of a ghost door frame in the top half of this photo
NEIL THE SITE WAS FINISHED IN 1981, I WORKED ON IT.
