If I remember, the surgery on the right belonged to Dr Hall and Dr Ratchford
you not see the malley shop 174 next to sweetshop
The discount store was previously the Queen's - my aunt's pub!
The Newspaper shop on the right was run by George - quite well known in the pubs.
Brilliant photo, half of Wallgate and later Marsh Green and Worsley Hall went to that little doctors. Turn right at the corner down Miry Lane as fast as my little legs could carry me and home from school to Yates Street.
Interesting photo, my dads grandparents lived and worked on wallgate in the 1880s, was a Grocer,at number 202 , name was James Dickinson, also his father Edward Dickinson was a master wheelwright and furniture broker at num 132
the star inn at the bottom of the picture my first darts and dominoes match poolstock league
Like Tony I too remember going down Wallgate but from St Thomas's in Caroline Street down Miry Lane to Edith Street
Gerard and Francis Malley who used to work at the Malley cobbler shop were my great uncles. Is this shop still standing? Went to the other Malley shop at 161 Park Rd at weekend
My Grandads Surgery was here.
He and My Grandma have fond memories from Wallgate!
