well stub my little toe 40012 complete with crewe departmental number 97407. im filling up looking @ this ultra mega beast . i dont think i can take it any more.ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr beast
That one dosn't look in bad nick. Were any of these saved and if such where can you see and hear them in action. Or did they all succumb to the dismantler's torch !!

David, East Lancashire Railway has a couple of preserved 40's and they do regular diesel days on which they run them - the hext day is tomorrow!
Class 40's 135 and 145 are preserved on the East Lancashire Railway at Bury. At the moment 145 is out of service, but 135 works services regularly, and is working this Saturday, 14th of January.
The machine pictured above is 40012, which is preserved at the Midland Railway Centre at Buterley. 40106 is preserved at the Seven Valley Railway. 40118 is at the Birmingham Railway Museum in Tysley, but hasn't worked since withdrawal from BR service.
