Is that Mr. Ali Khan who had the clothes-stall? He used to have a place in the Old Arcade before the Market Hall and was very popular. I have him on Geoff Shryhane's video of the Market Hall which he made just before it was demolished, and Mr. Khan is interviewed and has a surprising,(and lovely!) Lancashire accent.
Yes Irene its Ali the clue is in the initials right above his yed
Irene,
I have been trying to talk to you re Vinegar Bottles!!!
Alot of junk in there just like pound saver. no quaility at all.
Tricia.....irene.roberts2@virgin.net
Tricia, can you not post a photo, pic or sketch of these vinegar bottles ? Then we all may be able to help & find you one ! xx
Trish/Helen.....go onto "Places", scroll down to "Market Hall INDOORS",and you will find a lot of pages of indoor scenes in the Market Hall; go to page 7 and you will see, quite near the bottom, a picture of a fishmonger's stall with some Avery Scales on, which has 28 comments. Bring it uo close and you will see the "dimpled "vinegar bottle which Margaret Wall is looking for. I used to have one myself some years ago, and I occasionally see them on old repeats of Heartbeat and Last of the Summer Wine. Please feel free to join the search!
Hello Helen
Thank you for your reply.
I have found a similar type of bottle but could not remember who it was that wanted one! Nor could I find the page with the information.
Irene I have sent you a PM
x
Tricia..Yippeeeee.
Maureen
It was not the right one! lol. I am still trying though.
If anyone finds some , please tell me.
Tricia...I have looked everywhere, as I suppose we all have..Every time we go to Bygone Times I look for it,I do believe it's known as a thumb print glass..if you've had a look where Irene says on places you will see that it all started when Margaret Wall asked if anyone knew where to find one,and we have all been looking for months now..I believe someone who lives in Spain is looking out for one..I've googled them and asked on Answerbank, all to no avail...but it keeps us all off the streets.. as they say,it's like a treasure hunt.
Hello Maureen
Its me that has looked all over Spain! Next time we come home I am thinking of having a day trip to Settle. They sell alsorts in the shops there.. just an idea.
tricia helen maureen ireen, why dont you all ring each other up and stop boreing us all with your tickle tackle vinigar bottle....PLEASE! this has nothing to do with this photo.
Hello Tricia..so you are our Spanish lady then..on a different note,we love Settle as well..Hawes and Skipton, you might just see one there..fingers crossed eh?.
Bob
If we are boring you...tough!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T READ IT.Simples. It has EVERYTHING to do with the Market Hall pictures.
Well said, tricia. In a world where people are constantly fighting and backbiting, and losing all sense of community and neighbourliness, how nice to see complete strangers looking far and wide on their travels to help another stranger find something she badly wants. Even if I wasn't involved in trying to help Margaret I would find it heartwarming to see this happen, not "boring". Friendliness and kindness has always been a part of Wigan's reputation and I for one am proud to see it portrayed on Wigan World.
He really should not mess with Wigan Lasses!!!!
Bob..it isn't any of your business what we talk about..as has been suggested JUST DON'T READ IT..you do sound like an awful bore..just one suggestion Bob...get a dictionary and learn how to spell...(now that's real sarcasm).
Well spotted Maureen, Bob you should have checked your spellimg, Bob the Vinegar is on you.
sorry ladies I feel as though I've done ten rounds with you lot, I was just tryin to help, hope you find what you want though.
Thank you , Bob. But come on now you were having a whinge!!! lol
Perhaps we could ask you to look for one as well...lol
By the way Maureen, we lived not far from Bygone Times.
Well Bob..it takes a brave man to apologise...it`s not nice being fell out is it...all friends again eh.
Fair enough, Bob! When we get the vinegar bottle, you can join us all at Margaret's and we'll send you out to the chippy for fish and chips all round! You'll find us quite friendly really and please feel free to join in the search.
DC..you need to learn how to spell "SPELLING" which is a simple word!
On correct grammar etc, should you not be "Bob" with a capital B, or at least Robert?...Criticism requires correctness, not a pedant...;o)
What a great sence of humour you ladies have, (seriously) if you find that particular vinegar bottle, the fish and chips are on me, oh and one other thing, they must be traditional English fish and chips.
Bygone Times now thats a name to cunger with, it's a lovely part of Lancashire, Eccleston village, Tricia you must miss it?...hope I've been forgiven from you all!
Art,
Got your tin hat handy?????? Stop nitpicking!!!!!
A lot of people do not post their name with a capital letter.
We will start on you next if you keep this up ...lol
Hi Bob
I lived up the road from Eccleston, in the sticks at Ulnes Walton! Lived in lots of places in the same area and also abroad. And no, I do not miss it, except for my family and friends. Its Wigan that I miss most and also the places we were fond of like Settle , Rivington, Ashurst Beacon etc. In England, I never realy settled anywhere after I left Wigan. My Shangri La!
Bob easy done, typing error m & n are next to each other on the key pad
Yes DC, but as you say, check your spelling before you submit first. its no good trying to be clever if you make the same mistakes aswell.
Art shoving his big nose in...well said tricia.
Greens and Mark Williams, oh yes indeed. Can I have some chips ladies? I've got my own salt pot.
Hello again Joey
I think you have had your chips, matey. Isn't your pot cracked though???
