Yes it is him. I have the video Geoff Shryhane made of the Market Hall just before it closed and Jim is interviewed on it.

I worked at Mc Avoys in the old market hall and Sutcliffes was next door and Hamills was on the other side, I think..??

but I cannot fathom this scene out, at all..

Is this the old market hall? Was it changed from 1962 when I worked there?

Fred - this is the old market hall. If my memory serves me correctly, Sutcliffe's and Greens were on the Hope St side of the building at this time. I f you continued past the woman in red trousers in the pic, King's butchers was across the top of the alleyway.

The Woman in red trousers is walking towards the Woodcock Street side of the Market Hall, the bloke in white overall is walking towards the Hope Street side.

Yes if you carried on where Jim Sutcliffe is walking go past the pram you would come out into the fruit market, follow the woman in red pants and you would be facing Frank King's, then you could either turn left and come out into the foyer or turn right and come to the main entrance.

Never mind Fred i will put you in the picture, you worked at McAvoys butchers the shop after Sutcliffes, next door was the butchers Hamills which Les Bradbury took over, if you need to know anything about the old Wigan market let me know ,
