Market Hall

As a very young lad visiting the market with my mother (OK mam!)
I always insisted on going through the entrance with the rotating doors. This ended up with me, on one occasion, getting lost in the hall - I was heartbroken. Mam eventually found me eating a raw sausage on a butchers counter!
That was almost as scary as being lost as I thought the butcher may chop me up along with the other meat. Still sends a shiver down my spine to just think about it.
Market Square end and, not Woodcock St? That is Market St we can see in the background?
Awe!!!! Worked it out. This is Market St, side of market. Before they built on in the 1950's, later Petticoat Lane. Countdown, and the chemist.
Could anyone confirm which side where the revolving doors on? I always wanted to use the doors. I have many fond early childhood memories of the old market hall. I agree with many of the comments on here that it should not have been demolished but simply renovated thus maintaining its victorian features and the towns heritage. It saddens me to think there's no history in the town anymore.
