Last Steam Train leaving the site of the first person to be killed on the railways. The Loco number by the way is 45110. I did take quite a few pictures that day but I was experimenting with my camera and learning to develop & print my own and the quality of the others is very poor

if that is 45110 then the train is 1T57 the last steam hauled special which ran on 11 august 1968 it became known as the 15 Guinea Special and ran from Liverpool Lime Street to Carlisle via Manchester Victoria. Britannia class 70013 Oliver Cromwell worked the train from Vic to Carlisle . The return was hauled by Black Fives 44871 and 44781 to Vic then 45110 back to Lime Street

Isn't there just something about steam trains that make you happy ? By the way, here in Norfolk last year, the steam engine Oliver Cromwell was used to pull the first train over the reinstated road crossing to the station since Beeching's axe fell.
What a huge beast it looked as it emerged from between the buildings.
Great photo Paul.
