Sorry..it should have been on sports..I don't know what went wrong..slapped hands are in order.
Did Joe Chamberlain later work at Mellings Foundry and De Havilland, and then join the police force?
I don't know what happened to Joe,maybe when Vince Lannon sees it he might know.
Thanks Maureen - I worked with Joe for quite a few years, and the picture does bear a resemblance to him.
Mick, what you can't see on the photo obviously is the fact that Joe had sandy coloured hair..did the Joe that you knew have hair that colour?.
Sadly, Joe Chamberlain died a couple of years ago. The last time I saw him, he was in a wheelchair.
Thank you for that information Jim..how very sad..poor Joe.
Maureen - Joe did have sandy hair. It would appear that this is him on the photo.
Jim - I heard Joe had died following a period of ill health, and was sorry to hear it. I supped many a pint of Bass in the Swan and Railway with him! Are you the same Jim Latham who I used to frequent Holland Hall with, many moons ago?
Maureen.
I would suggest that this photo was taken a little later than 1953,I went to school with Brian Roberts and Ken Halliwell and looking at them on this photo I would have thought they look more like 17-18 years of age making it 1958-59 period, could be wroung though Regards big Ken Halliwell as we knew him, he later signed and played for Swinton in that great team they had in the 60's, but he unfortunately passed away some time ago.
Hello Brian..The information that came with the photo said 1953 so I don't know if it's right or not...if you go on 'Communicate'-'People'-'Wallgate thread' and speak to Bravo, that's Vince...(he won't mind me telling you his username)I'm sure he would tell you more.
hi brian, iam bravo, iam in the photo and it was 1953,iwas sixteen at the time ken is the same age as me.i did my national service when i was eighteen 1956-1957,we where mor or less the same age when we played.ken attended all saints school played rugby for them not football.
first time i have seen a photo of my deceased brother Ken Halliwell at the boys club or even a soccer team. i remember vince lannon although i would only be about 2 or 3 if the date is right. thanks for the photo Maureen
You're welcome Stephen...I just wish the photo was of better quality.
