A Lancashire United bus leaving the old bus station, Wheland's store behind the bus before it became Morrison's. 3 September 1975.

Warburton's furniture shop just visible on the right hand side, who remembers the Don Cafe just further along near the Market Hotel?

All those buildings gone in the name of progress. What a shame used to get on a Lancashire United bus to go to my Aunties in Haydock!

Brilliant, Tom!

What a beautiful building that was, what a shame it has been destroyed. I remember buying my firt washing machine from Whelans store.

Hope Street Church had also gone when this photo was taken. Beatiful stone buiding, sadly redundant by this time, it stood at the right hand end of this red brick terrace of buildings.

My Dad told me the other day that he got refused entry into Room at the Top. He must have looked well dodgy...

Quite a rare picture! This bus was destroyed in a fire outside Platt Bridge Depot along with another Fleetline and was subsequently rebodied. Great to see it in its original state. Thanks fro sharing.
