I bet it was an Aladdin's cave inside. What a great shop. Great picture Dennis, thanks for posting.
I have never forgotten as a girl of about 8 seeing the most exquisite (I thought) hat with a brim, covered in ribbons and lace in a shop window (in remote Queensland near where we lived). How I longed to have that hat! I knew there wasnt a hope of me ever having it, which I confirmed by daring to ask my mother who was with me. I have thought about that hat in the window many times when my memory is jogged by something in life. About 40 years later I came upon the same shop window, (minus that hat of course!) and the window looked half the size I had remembered it.
That's a brilliant memory, Sheryl, to have stayed with you all those years; it makes me wish I could have seen the hat too.....Thankyou for sharing such a special memory with us.
that's sweet of you, irene :)
This is my great grandfathers brother
Argyle St. school uniforms, and striped velvet type flat caps for after school.
He sold all the uniforms for HAGS too.
