Wouldn't have imagined it to be like that inside, is it the same one that was clad in corrugated iron that you could see from Ellesmere Road.
Yes it was. I remember as a child it was very dark in there. The picture was taken at my parent's wedding
Iremember going every Sunday canon carney taking mass I was confirmed there in 1961. great picture
I made my first communion there 1966
Remember this old church and it being demolished in the 1960s.
Why do churches always look and feel cold?
does anyone know the nane of the priest from 1984
according to the book published in 2000. Parish history 1871 - 2000, Father Thomas Naughton was the parish priest 1976 - 89. His assistant in 1984 was Father Thomas Neylon (1982 - 1986)
I was confirmed at St Cuthbert's in 1965 by Canon Carney, you could hardly hear him as he mumbled. School friends funeral was at the same church (Brian Grealy) who drowned in the old Kitt Green quarry, the whole school class went. I now live in Australia and would love to visit the church and school again.
How wonderful to see this old church of my childhood once more...I can almost smell the incense! Now where are the photos of the old infant school next door...
I was a young girl who lived in the area in the early 80s.
I would like to know if Father Naughton sexually molested any other children at this time..as I am.one of them
Thank you for helping me put this traumatic time to rest. ..
My Mother and Father got married here 28th January 1935, I think the priest was Fr. E O Laverty
