Plumbob My mother, 89 in June and still going strong is glad to hear from you and hopes all your family are well.My brother is fine but unfortunately one of his three granddaughters is not
well.
Hi Marlene, I think it should be Ivan and not Ian Bannister.
Hadn't noticed that Pamela Theckston was on the photo; she and my youngest sister Elizabeth were life long friends. Unfortunately, Pam died a few years ago.
Marlene nice to here you mother is keeping well
i don,t know if your mother knows or not but sadly Jean passed away in2002, Barbara in 2004. and Arthur 2006 Harry John and Frank are all well
Thanks for the correction Frank and sorry to hear about Pamela.
Plumbob my mother and I are sorry to hear about Jean,Barbara and Arthur. My mother's last brother died last year. I'm glad I brought her to the street reunion that your Jean organised. Some very happy memories including the domino games for matches your mother and my grandma would have'Knock when you can't go' otherwise silence used to be quite scary in the dim gaslight .
Hi Marlene, great to see this old photo. I am second from left on the back row wearing those terrible National Health specs. You haven't changed a bit! I was chatting to your mum a couple of weeks ago, she is remarkable.
Glad you have enjoyed the photo Christine. My mother said she had seen you.She is still very independent and people often comment how they have spotted her 'power walking'.
Yes, because I don't seem to have any school photos. I am especially intrigued by the pre 1917 photo. I would love to find out the names of those children. Lots of my family have lived in St. Andrew's Parish for many years and perhaps one of them is on there. My dad even remembers Rev. William Wickham when he was a child.
Anyone know anything of Susan Reid(Barton)I was at WGHS with her.
To Marlene Griffiths (nee Robinson I assume )many thanks, I was so pleased to see this photo and so glad that someone has kept it safe.I cannot see a couple of people from this gathering- David Barlow (who lived in Gidlow Lane) and Elaine Holland (who lived in church house behind the church hall)I amm reliably informed that Elaine still attends St Andrew's Church. It would be interesting to see how each member of that class has fared in life. I believe we all owe a great deal to Charles Harmer. Up to a short time ago I used to bump into him on saturday morning shopping trips. Its quite funny how our paths have crossed a few times over the years. We,ll all be in the 63/64 age group now and most of us will be retired but it would possibly be a good thing to get together to reminisce.
Hello Philip,I also have the 1957 photo with David,Elaine and Philip Williams on
I made a small error.I should have referred to Mr Harmer by his correct christian name,ie: Cliff not Charles.Apologies to him.
I have only just seen this photograph. What memories! I think Mr Harmer would be surprised that I actually ended up as a headteacher of a school in Norfolk. Does anyone know what happened to Susan Reid?
There were 20 girls in the October 1966 Set of trainee nurses at Pendlebury Children's Hospital. We know the whereabouts of 18 of those original 20. We have lost touch with Judith Hatton (born 1948)from Wigan. In 2016 it will be 50 years since we started and we are trying hard to contact Judith. We have tried many routes including a radio appeal with no luck. We think the Judith Hatton on your photo just might be our friend. Can anyone help? I will respond to anyone who thinks they might be able to. Many thanks, Pat
wondering if the Judith Hatton on the above photo is the same one who began nurse training at Pendlebury Children's hospital in October 1966? If so her set are urgently trying to contact her as of the original 20 who began that day she is the only one we have lost. It would be great to contact her before the 50th anniversary next year. I will respond to any information.
Hello
Would anyone know the whereabouts of Kathleen Holden, if someone knows I would be grateful if they could contact me, any information would be treated in strict confidence
Interesting photo. Tommy Parkinson was my uncle, he sadly passed away over 10 years ago. He and Ivan Bannister married sisters Carol & Sheila Anderton from Worsley Mesnes. When I attended St Andrews, Cliff Harmer was the headmaster.
