Slater's on the right, a good place to go for denim & jeans as well as school uniform. Who remembers the outdoor license that used to be further up on the right? The shop front was made out of beaten copper and had the names of various wines and spirits embossed in it.

Wimpeys on the left of photo,there has been a thread about this place just latley on Wiganworld. I love seeing 'Old Wigan' as it used to be, great photos and thanks for sharing, Dave.

Duncan, I think that the wine shop in the Arcade was Duerrs although I wouldn't put money on it.

It looks so much narrower then than now.
