I just happened to see the photograph of the UGS camp at High Wycombe in 1949. I was in the party of boys at the camp being at the school from 1944 to 1951. Today by coincidence is our 54th wedding anniversary. I "met" my future wife on this camp - Florrie (nee) Anders. The camp was blessed with fine weather. For the school concert my form sang excerpt from the White Horse Inn recently staged in London. We had many lovely walks in the beechwoods and hills meeting the "last of the bodgers". At lunch peanut butter sandwiches did not go down well.
happy memories
Alan Patterson
Hello, Alan Patterson, I was wondering if my sister, Jean Patten was on this camp. I seem to remember her having gone there. I was at UGS 1950-1957. I believe you knew her, or am I confusing you with someone else? Best regards.
Just discovered website out here in Perth,Australia.Very nostalgic memories of visit to Stokenchurch(not High Wycombe). My first visit to London and Oxford.Miss Penman trying to teach me to swim.Recognise Jean Gore front row on right and Elsie Marsh(P.E)back left.Remember you too Alan.Happy days indeed.Gordon Ion (1942-50)
