This line was used heavily around early 70s for Express passenger trains fron London-Scotland when the WCML was being electrified. BR spent a great deal time and money to update the bridges and track only to close the line when the WCML was complete... bad management from BR.

The train is heading for Bamfurlong Junction for the WCML on the Platt bridge Junction Line, and has been over the Whelley Loop .Signals for Amberswood West Junction can be seen in background. The lines around here where an absolute maize , but little remains

Sadly the only remains of this line is the embankment from the cricket ground boundary to the first bridge (Middle right). The rest of the embankment not far from north of (now amberswood lake) was removed in mid 80s when the open cast was being excavated.
