Good pic ian, the machine i think is an AEC, smiths was kings of the road at the time with over 200 coaches running up and down the country.
A great British coach. All imported these days...very sad.
It is indeed an AEC Reliance. One of eight Duple-bodied coaches delivered in April 1976.
my dad work at smiths coaches he use to go every wk to iof whight when thay were in market st wigan is name was stan hart & his mate work for um to norman unsworth thay called im ginger

I worked for Smiths Happiways from 1976 to 1985 I did various tours including Eastbourne, Motz ( Austria), Seefeld and also Lake Garda to name a few.. Boss was Eric & Thelma Lomax ... lots of happy memories working for Smiths Happiways

I remember that driver in the photo but I don't remember his name. The only driver whose name I remember was called "Fernando". Most of the drivers had a little plaque up front with their name on it.
I own a Smiths Happiways coach it is stored in Norfolk, I haven’t used it in years it has the number 107 on it reg number BTB 690T it’s an AEC Reliance with a duple body
I used to drive for s h the first new vehicle I had was p reg,before that I had a little arc that I used to get up to 70 mph on the mule Anne straight Le Mans. On my way down to spain
