*The caption is not clear as a bit is missing off, so can you tell me which player is Harry Ball? I actually had the pleasure of meeting him in the 60s, when he was "a good age," so I can't recognise him from this...

Ben Rouse, I think used to live in Scot Lane newtown

I posted this (Item 14877) a few months back. Harry Ball is the second player 2nd in from the left, on the back row. Never had the pleasure of meeting him but saw him numerous times in the 60's, usually walking down Mesnes Road, towards town. He'd have been in his nineties then, also very smartly turned out, complete with bowler hat, pipe and walking stick and with a very upright gait. He had been a Director at the club.

Hi Keith, I think that you are counting the guy in the flat cap(Prescot) as a player. I recognise Jas Blears and counting left from him. H.Ball is the last 'player' on the back row.

The two blonde chaps are the Yates brothers William and Edward aged 32 and 24 born in Blackrod near Scot Lane End.

Oops, you are right Keith, I have seen this pic before, and even made a comment on it last time too...! Senior moment again. Anyway, thanks to the various comments, it now seems clear that Harry Ball is the first player (in kit) on the left of the back row. Thanks all...
