Is that the halfway house pub at the bottom of the brew?
you are correct.
My great-great grandparents JAMES BIBBY and CATHERINE ROSCOE lived here in 1861.
what a great photo! my house is just about where the tram is on the left. would have been fantastic seeing them trundle up and down everyday. any ideas how far the trams went to out of Wigan? i love the old pictures.fantastic
My great grandfather & his family lived at 174 Ormskirk Road in Pemberton/Newtown. According to family legend a tram left its rails and crashed into the house. I'm not sure if anyone was hurt.
my x2 grandmother lived at 555 ormskirk rd. from 1900 to 1911 elizabeth partington seddon and also elizabeth partington seddon's daugher in law elizabeth alice lowe partington lived at 557 ormskirk rd in 1911

I currently live at 557 ( first house on the left) been living here since 2005.
sure is half-way house pub my dad regular took me up pem on tram
My granddaughter and her husband are currently in the process of buying 557 the left hand house. Interestingly my stepfather was a Dennis Roscoe who had a few brothers, his father was Peter Roscoe, from Skelmersdale, who moved down to North Nottinghamshire around the 1930s ( coal miner) no Roscoes alive now, could the 1861 resident be a relation? If si what a coincidence!
Does anybody know where I can get a high resolution version of this image? I'd love a print for our house.
