This is just a guess, but I think the photo was taken in Albert street after all the houses were knocked down, to the right would be the Pingy, I seem to remember a passage in the houses across the road which lead to the school beyond
yore right it is albert street were you or standing we use to live there number 6 on the left of you if you go to street scenes on wigan world and look for albert street you will see shop at the bottom and entry

hi tony remember the name topping but i was very young then we was the simm family thans
the shop near the entry was a butchers, margorie and her brother norman had it, cant remember second name, one of the gannon brothers had it later as a butchers as well, the shop to the left was a chippy, it was roys, cant remember hes second name either, must be getting owd,we used to live round back in caroline street

hello cs are you carl simm? if so i remember a photo of you me and my brother in the yard at the back of our shop which was on manchester rd, we being ian and robin barrow.
my grandad alexander bibby was born at no.6 albert street in 1907,it's fascinating looking through all these old photo's.
