Nice one Mr Sutch, but where is the driver,? looks as ifits ready to turn right into Wigan road at the bird, but I cannot see any sign of a driver in that cab. ?
i think its parked up its to near the far kerb to be turning in one go,maybe there is a parade going through the crossroads or poppy day sunday
I think he's there... but sat well back, and hidden partially by the split in the sidescreen. Leyland PDs had no power steering - to get round a corner at low speed you really had to heave well back into your seat and wrestle with the wheel.
I dont want to seem a bit condescending Rev Long, but I passed my driving test for Wigan corporation in one of those, and I would definitly state there is no driver in the cab.
Gents, it came down Market Street and turned towards Wigan,if it hadn't a driver in it there would be no picture, I would have been leggin'it down Liverpool Road !!!
Perhaps you'll have to put up a scan of the cab in greater definition to prove it, Tom... but I can even see the face of the driver, high up in the cab.
Great picture of a great British bus.
if you zoom right in you can see clearly the driver
i passed my test for wct in a bus like that in 1968
