Oh my lord... there is a view I know well, and my favourite watering hole... long gone. :-( And Platt Street before the cars and lorries.
And your favourite barmaid, eh Dennis?! Although I only moved to Platt Bridge in 1971, I visited a schoolfriend in the 60s, and her Grandma lived in Platt Street. There were rows of terraced houses there then. Dennis, has your Sue got long dark hair? If so, I think I saw her with your Mum a couple of months ago in Platt Bridge, near the CO-OP.
... you are STILL my favourite barmaid Irene. :-*
There is every chance it was Susan with my mum, Sue goes down every Monday. They usually nip out for lunch to Edwards. Don't be shy of saying hello next time, I have told Susan you used to ply me with ale... and that you was a good friend when I needed a good friend.
DINNER, Dennis lad, dinner! Why have people in Wigan srarted saying "Lunch"? I hear it everywhere these days. And I must say you took a lot of persuading to drink a pint of bitter, (I don't think!) Dennis! Happy days at The Inn!
