just to the right of the old shed, just below the water tank, was the turntable, and the sand pit as we called it, this was where the sand was dried prior to being used for the sand boxes aon each loco, I remember once as a cleaner, we buried one of our mates in there, up to his neck and left him for a couple of hours (forgot to mention the sand was dried through a fire underneath), when we finally let him out, to say he was not best pleased would be an understatement, so if he is still around I say to my old friend Ken Shields, very sorry for what we put you through. !
