By god I supped some amount of I.P.A. in ther. Brilliant painting.
These paintings are magnificent, easily on a par with the late Helen Bradley, whose work I admire so much. I used to paint in oils but unfortunately nowhere near this standard.
Just beautiful.
Lovely picture, hope details of sales will follow.
Just spoken to the artist, he said his sister has claimed a couple of the paintings but he is intending to have prints made of them. So Watch This Space. When he has the prints he is going to contact me and in turn I'll post something on the site.
Think maybe this painting relates to around late 60's-70's.Otherwise it would have shown the shops all down the left side of Bridge St.
it is from the very late 50s, early 60s. i remember the shops you mention. a lorry went through the front window of the shop right on the bend ( wall paper shop i seem to remember)around that time i think.rays been in oz since he was a young man,but his heart has always been here in hindley. some of his local scenes are from memory.i have quite a few on my walls.he paints from life when he is over here (regularly). i have some wonderful snow scenes ray has painted of hindley(some painted from memory).he will be back at christmas, staying with us, and hopefully do some more. im so glad you like his work. i think he is amazingly talented!!( but i am his sister!! LOL)
your right about the lorry crashing into the shop i was at my grandmas in blantyre st playing out and we heard the bang when it ran in the shop
The only problem would be that walking days did not go up Castle Hill, otherwise would suggest late 60s to mid 70s
Walk day did go back up to Castle Hill late 50;s to the school,
I remember as I walked many years in it,
I also painted this picture
