The original name of the sports shop was JJ Broughtons, it was just co-incidental that the late Johnny Bradburn, who was formerly a Teacher (or was it Headmaster) at Wigan Grammar School bought the business and moved it on from just being a Sports outlet. DW doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it ?

Leyland Titan PD2/1 These buses entered service in 1951 and had full bench seats. Not a particular good design.
The bus is a pd1, low bridge type, delivered 1945/46.Buses 1950/51 were highbridge ,centre gangways on the top deck.
PD2 reg is early 50s.
The bus pictured is a P.D.1.Delivered 1946 No 131 Reg.JP 5500,Not a PD2.
Look full bench seats top deck, PD2 1950, JP 5500.
To set the record straight. This is a Leyland Titan PD1 delivered new to Wigan Corporation in December 1946. This was one of a batch of 30 delivered after relaxation of wartime restrictions. Wigan's first PD2 did not arrive until February 1950 and their reg numbers were JP 8300 - 8329.
