Nicola I would be 10 or so when the photo was taken and the little boy very much fits the recollection I have of the boy who sat on the step facing Meadow street that I mentioned before as being your dad, your grandad,if it is him, in the photo is someone I recognise from all those years ago but would not have known his name.I do not recognise any of the others but could be from, Mehan's, Gormley's or Talty's who lived on that first row after Ted Greens repair shop
What a great photograph for their families to look back on,why do black and white photos always seem to have it over coloured shots, thanks Nicola.
L to R: Doreen Gaskell (now Taylor), Brian, Joseph (dad), Kathleen, Nora and two neighbours
Thanks Orrellite, you have a good memory for the spot!
Hi, Nicola,
What a blast from the past!
I'm sure that Doreen Gaskell was a teenage friend of my sister, Barbara. We were brought up at No. 46, Woodhouse Lane and Barbara lived there until her marriage in 1953 when she went with her husband to the u.s.a., where they live still. I'll tell her about your photo - she'll be very interested.
not sure if it's a good memory or the onset of real old age but I can remember all of the families and their children on Meadow street from that time where we lived and all the corner shops there.
I remember your family and a lot of neighbours of meadow st where i lived and also neighbours of woodhouse lane and beresford street, also a few from the other streets around that area. brilliant photo.
The young girl at the front right I think is Sheila Tolley from Frog Lane and the lady behind her is her Auny, cant remember her name.
I had family that lived at 35 Woodhouse Lane at that time , and wondered if anyone knew them. Kitty and Arthur Barton. they had a daughter names Marie ( we called her Marri). Before them the Baxendales lived there. After Kitty and Marie moved. Janet (Jenny) Baxendale moved in there until she passed away in 1973. Just a long shot and wondered if anyone knew them, they were my Great Aunts. As a kid I use to spend a lot of time there during the summer holidays in the 50's and 60's.
Thanks
