609 norley hall bus outside the grapes pub
New Star Inn.;o)
has the double decker just been involved in a smash ?
A bit of an accident it seems..Good pic though, I think Wigan was a whole lot better then than it is now.
It certainly looks a lot cleaner then
It is the New Star Inn Art, you got a decent pint in there too, used to go in there on Saturday evenings and watch Kung Fu on the television and then out and about around town later.
looks very clean
aye its new star inn ok, used to go in there most evenings and weekends, good old days.
Gordon Fords in the background, the Star inn, not much traffic only three buses and a bike. Lovely clean and tidy area.....and the younger generation wonder why we say "the good old days".
Well done Thomas, great photo.
Good photo. I can remember when the traffic was two way on this stretch of the road. I used to catch a bus to Billinge on Sunday mornings to go to my aunties. My dad crossed me over the road. It would have been about 1960.
Anne, I use to work in Goose Green in 1971, and catch the bus from town, the traffic was two way then.... I'm not too sure of the year, when it changed to the one way system? The photo was take in 1976, so it must be from 1971-1976.
Just off to the right walking up wallgate was Ronnie Heyes Chippy anybody remember it?
There was a Norman's chippy further up Wallgate. And Charles Gormally -remember him?- had a brief spell running a chippy in a back street.
