Very atmospheric! Which area of Wigan is this?
I think it will be in Abram Irene.
How odd.....i'd no idea. I live on Warrington Road but not when this was taken, only since 1974.I wouldn't have realised it was Abram! Thanks.
if this was taken from Windermere Road in Abram, those bungalows will be the ones inbetween The Bucks Head and Lee Lane
It cant be the bungalows that are standing now, the pic is 1966 or so it states. i was born in 1962 and i remember the red tin mission church on that land when i was in my teens. the location looks right with the pens behind but the 1966 date does not fit in.
Ah sorry i know them now the date is correct. i was totally mixed up.
I'ved lived in Abram for 66 years and I'm confused with the location of the photo. As Tom says the houses run up the hill from Lee lane but the bungalows aren't the same as the one in this location. They look more like the bungalows facing the Labour Club on the site of the old Methodist tin chapel, as Alan says.
those are not the pens, but the rear gardens of the council estate and it shows the rear of the bungalows that are on your left walking from Lee Lane up to the Bucks Head.It would have been taken from the Tin Houses/Prefabs i'm thinking!
you're right about the tin houses, it was taken from the upstairs back bedroom of 18 windermere road. My grandma and grandads house, Johnny and Alice Flynn.
I'm thinking these are the two old style bungalows that are about 100yards up the hill from Lee Lane they were there when I was a kid in Abram (1950 ish )
the house which the photo was taken was 18 windermere rd after the flynn's lived there my daughter angela lived there for a few years and the two bunglows my uncle lived in the one to the left, the westby family
