Women in curlers covered with a scarf were a regular sight at one time, the curlers seemed only to come out on Friday and Saturday nights whilst the women went to the pub or club.
That looks like one of those wall art things where embroidery silks where wrapped around nails, yachts where a popular one.
Yes Jean your correct, the balloon was made by a Mr George Peacock in the seventies, who worked with us at Courtaulds in Skelmersdale.
I did one of those things, the ship I think.. out around the time of the scraping foil ones too.
As fashions are making a come back, i'm hoping this one (curlers and scarf) stays well in the past!
this lady is Kathleen townley sadly now longer with us.
When i used to work at Clifton Mills, I would regularly turn up on a saturday morning to do my shift wearing a headful of rollers under a neat scarf in preparation of my saturday night out until one day coming home on the bus, the bus conducter decided mischievously to whip off my scarf and take it down to the lower deck and refused to give back till i got off the bus. I was embarrassed to say the least. I can laugh at it now.
