I was looking to see if I could see myself in this photo but it is a year or so to early. I was at Woodfield for a short time in 1947/48. I remember the house & how we used to lie down on oval mats for a rest/sleep after dinner. The school was opposite St Clements Rd where I was living with my Granny & Grandpa.
I think we have David Pardey and David Morton in the photograph.
Any other names would be helpful
On reflection I think we have Billy Brookwell there also his brother David appears in another picture. They lived for a time in the cottages across the river Douglas from the bottom of the seventy steps in Brockmill before moving to the bottom of Red Rock.
Anybody remember Janet Taylor
Wigan Grammer School headmasters daughter
I think Janet is in the Brownie outfit at the back a little friend of mine.
I am on this photograph taken in 1946/47. It was taken at the end of the last year of being taught at Woodfield before we attended Marylebone School (a block of Flats built now on the site) for 3 years. We were taught at Marylebone but walked back to Woodfield each day, on our own, for school dinner (orange stew! horrible). David Pardey and Neil Harvey went on to Public School the next year.
While I tend to forget what I did last week, I can remember most of pupils on this photograph as though it was yesterday.

Just great to live in the past for a few moments....now 2016
Helen...Is that Helen Kirk who once lived across Wigan Lane from David Morton and became a vet..
I remember our treat was to sit cross legged on the floor and listen to the radio !!
Also remember putting salt into a little girls glass of water over dinner and being made to drink it myself ...
Hi folk of this generation...anybody remember Janet Taylor maybe 1945 or 46.
I remember her in the Brownies and the big wooden mushroom they would dance around...the family I think left Wigan about 1947..(a little friend of mine)
