Wigan Album

A 1950s view of the old Hope Street bus station. This was where the longer distance bus services used to depart from. Ribble and Lancashire United buses were the most common seen here. Wigan Corporation buses tended to work to Kitt Green, Shevington/Appley Bridge/Wrightington, Liverpool and, occasionally, St Helens. The only long distance service that did not start from here was the 15 to Bolton via Aspull which started from Station Road.
