The Theatre was behind the Shakespeare Hotel in King Street.

was this not part of the Hippodrome or a different Theatre

The Theatre Royal was closed when The Hippodrome was opened.It was then converted into the Shakespere Pub the old stage house space being used to build the Hippodrome dressing room block at the rear of the pub.All this around 1902/3.
