I agree Hanley was a great player at Wigan, it's a pity you three aren't old enough to have watched Billy Boston play.....He was the greatest ever.

Bob - Jem should remember Boston; he is much older than me! infact I believe he watched Jim Sullivan make his debut!

Nice one Malc !

I don't care what anyone say's on this site, Boston, Ashton, they don't come any better than that.
Hanley was a great player, no doubt, but not in the league of this duo.

I'm with you Syd, but realise half of us are too young to have seen the legends Boston and Ashton play. Certainly in my younger days it was Hanley and Edwards and Gregory and that, I modelled myself off Goodway and Potter, workhorses and ball playing forwards - class!

Moz, Wonderful comment, I guess we all get caught up in our own era, don't we?
But even if you didn't see them play, Griffith, Boston, Ashton, Holden, Sullivan, Bolton, Thomas, Mctigue,I'm glad that I'm old enough to have seen these guys play, fabulous memories of Wigan Rugby League.

And more power too you Syd, You treasure your memories of the players of you're day, would have been great to have seen the legends you mention... Me I'm a mid 70's child, so watched my 'heroes' there-on after. This is why pictures and top comments from folk about Wigan RL belong on Wigan World.
