Bryson.
Thats my cousin Peter Bryson sitting cross legged on the ground. I lived with the Brysons for a while in Dicconson Street, around 1950. I remember the tall 3 story houses all along the street, with the Wesleyan school & church at the other end. You could go through a high, wide archway a few doors down into a cobbled alley & out on to Menses St by the Scotch Bakery.
Great set of photo's charnock, don't know where you dug them all from, or how you remember all the names covering so many years and teams etc.I think everybody who was brought up in the 50's in and around Wigan, remembers Wigan Grammer school cricket teams and the sports events taking place on the Mesnes playing field. It's a great pity that it isn't used nowadays for useful sporting events like those days, instead of it being used as a car park for Wigan Metro employees.
